The objective of the Canton Garden Club (CGC) is to promote interest in and knowledge of gardening, civic improvements and the conservation of wildlife and natural resources.
We encourage others to take pride in their community by sharing our knowledge and enthusiasm for all things green and growing.

Letter from the President

Kicking off our 96th year at the Canton Garden Club, let us look back with gratitude to all the members whose service has brought us here! It is with great pride and joy that we pick up the baton and continue moving forward into our 96th year!

We began the year over the summer with a majority of our members completing a survey to help us better know the demographics, interests, and goals of our seventy plus members. Many of our members gathered in July to review the findings and share ideas for the 2026-2027 season. I’m sure all in attendance went home with takeaways. The ones I took and will use to guide me this year are to look for mentor-mentee relationships at every opportunity and for specific, concrete ways members can participate. We also were committed to fostering opportunities to really meet each other and get to know each other, at our various gatherings. Don’t be surprised by a possible icebreaker or two at our upcoming meetings!

Our programming lineup is strong and varied again this year. You will be able to choose from offerings focused on floral arranging, Italian kitchen gardens, edible bugs, hands-on holiday workshop, herbs/tea blending, and upcycling décor. Our event lineup is full yet manageable: table at the Farmers Market, tables at the Blue Hills Holiday Sale, annual plant sale, Artist-in-Bloom, and Garden Therapy at the Senior Center. We will continue to be involved in our civic beautification projects and our fundraising efforts to provide scholarships.

As we begin this new year together, I am truly grateful to serve alongside such a talented, generous, and enthusiastic group of members. Whether you are returning or joining CGC for the first time, I hope you will find many opportunities to share your interests, form new friendships, and make a meaningful difference in our community. Each of you brings something special to our club! I look forward to learning, creating, and celebrating with you throughout the year. Together, let’s honor the traditions that brought us to our 96th year while making new memories of our own. Here’s to a wonderful year ahead!
